Setup guide

Bookings

Attach a class to a real Shopify product and take bookings through your normal checkout. The video shows the full setup on a live store; the steps are written out below it.

Bookings walkthrough, 4:54, subtitled.

Before you start

  1. Create your class in Shopify as a normal product, in the usual way. Untick “This is a physical product”. See the Getting Started guide for the product and template preparation.
  2. Install bocky and keep three tabs open while you work: your live product page, bocky, and the theme editor.

Set up the service

  1. In bocky, choose Bookings and select the class product to attach.
  2. Step 1, Service. Name the class, set the session length, set the places per session, add the location and confirm the timezone. bocky reads your browser timezone and flags any mismatch.
  3. Step 2, Availability. Pick the date and start time. For an ongoing class choose Repeats weekly and pick your days. Leave the end date blank and bocky keeps the calendar filled three months ahead, adding new sessions each week. Blackout dates, custom schedules and bulk imports are available here too.
  4. Step 3, How bookings are taken. Online through Shopify checkout (link your class product), or internal only, where staff manage the book and no product is needed.
  5. Step 4, What you collect. Just the purchaser’s details, a name for every guest, or names and emails for the whole group. Add custom fields for dietary requirements or anything else you need before the class.
  6. Step 5, Review. Check the read-back: date, time, places, location. The last item flags that the booking calendar block is not on your product page yet.

Wire the storefront

  1. Open the theme editor on the class product template and add the Product booking calendar block. Colours, headings and text render from your theme.
  2. Hide the quantity selector and Shopify’s standard buy buttons on this template. This page now sells seats, not units; the bocky block collects the booking details and sends the customer through to Shopify checkout.
  3. Save the theme, return to bocky, tick the confirmation box, and activate storefront bookings.

Test it

  1. Open your live product page. Pick a date; available sessions appear with remaining seats shown in real time.
  2. Choose a session, add the guest names, add the booking to your cart and check out. Payments, taxes and orders all stay in Shopify.
  3. In bocky, the booking lands with purchaser details, attendee names, remaining seats and check-in, ready to check guests off as they arrive.
